Are confident people more successful

You’re not Gary Vaynerchuk. You’re not as successful as he is but that’s because you’re not as confident as he is. So, are confident people more successful? They have an edge, for sure.

Confident people are more successful. They aren’t afraid to try new things and know how to stay afloat when they face challenges. Confidence gives people the ability to convince and influence others which makes it easier for them to get promotions, higher positions, better salaries or even fame.

Why are confident people more successful after all? Do they have some sort of a magic wand that helps them see all the good in themselves? Do they not make any mistakes? Let’s find out.

Why Are Confident People More Successful?

They are self-driven

When people are more confident, they don’t need validation from others. They’re self-motivated individuals who are capable of accepting themselves the way they are. By sharpening their strengths and improving on their weaknesses, they’re able to make numerous attempts to achieve something without getting demotivated.

Alibaba founder Jack Ma was rejected 30 times before he made it big. His story is no secret but for the uninitiated here’s what happened:

“30 times I got rejected, I went for job with the police and they said no you are not good. When KFC came to China, 24 people went for the job and 23 got accepted. I was the only one to get rejected.”

Jack Ma, Founder, Alibaba

Today, Alibaba’s net worth is $165.39 billion.

Inspiring, right? Now think of what would have happened if he lost all his confidence after those 30 rejections. There would be no Alibaba and I wouldn’t be quoting him right now. If he wasn’t self-driven and confident despite multiple failures, he wouldn’t be this successful.

They Stand Up For What They Believe In

Confident people are fighters. They’re not affected by people and don’t need external validation to go for their goals. If they’re confident and believe in their ideas, they’re open to feedback but they don’t necessarily change everything to fit other people’s demands or thoughts.

They don’t entertain naysayers and don’t get affected by the flak they receive for what they’re determined to do. They’re also unafraid by big names. They don’t get intimidated by anyone and always say what they truly feel.

“..Stand up for what you believe in even if it means you stand alone. Speak the truth even if your voice shakes. Never regret doing the right thing no matter what the cost may be.“

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson had a troubled personal life. He was allegedly subject to violence from his father when he was just a child. Despite all his struggles, the discrimination when he grew up, the rejections, the failures and every kind of challenge, he stood up for what he believed in.

He didn’t get intimidated, he didn’t stop singing, he didn’t stop speaking up and most importantly, he didn’t stop fighting for everything he believed in.

They Say “Yes” More Often

While confident people might disagree with some things, most times you’ll hear them saying a “yes” to new experiences. They’re interested in trying out new things because they like to seek and create new opportunities. They like new experiences.

When you’re open to new opportunities, you have more chances at success. Not trying at all means a loss by default. Confident people have a “might as well try and lose or maybe, win!” attitude.

This makes confident people more successful as they say “yes” to more opportunities and by probability, their chances to succeed get higher.

More opportunities also mean more responsibility and accountability. Confident people get successful not only because they say yes to new opportunities but also because they say yes to the responsibilities that come with new goals.

They know they could fail but that doesn’t stop them from exploring new avenues.

“Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”

Winston Churchill

They Get Out Of Their Comfort Zone

Confident people are able to push themselves harder. They know that they can never achieve something great if they keep doing the same thing with the same effort over and over.

People who lack confidence are often insecure and afraid to get out of the safety net they create for themselves. They’re afraid to venture into new territories because they resist change.

Confident people, on the other hand, are led by their focus on their goals. “Focus over fear” helps them with more courage to go after their dreams.

“To be successful, you must accept all challenges that come your way. You can’t just accept the ones you like.”

Mike Gafka

Confident People Are More Successful Because..

Confident people execute more because they believe that they can make things happen, they can succeed. This doesn’t mean that they’re overconfident either. It simply means that they know failure is inevitable but they don’t let it stop them.

Here’s how you can they do it.

They’re Willing To Try And Expect To Fail

The more comfortable you become with failing, the more confident you’ll become at trying. Successful people don’t fear failure, they embrace it, learn from it and move on. For them, failure is feedback.

Here’s an excellent video by Mel Robbins about the skill of confidence. She’s a great example of confident people who are successful. Here she talks about how you can take control of your mind.

They Use The Power of Visualization

According to Christopher Longhurst, visualization helps build confidence from a younger age. Successful people use this powerful tool of visualizing positive outcomes which makes them more confident to try new things. They visualize that they’re winning and imagine success before starting anything. This helps them take that first step.

There are many visualization techniques that they take advantage of to boost their confidence and increase their chances of becoming successful.

They Stay Curious

How are curiosity and confidence linked? Staying curious keeps their minds busy and leaves no room for negative thoughts. Successful people are always busy with research on something that they’re curious about or upgrading their skills by learning something new. Their mind is focused on positive things like learning and growing.

Confident People Are More Successful After All

While everyone wants a slice of the success pie, it’s not easy. There’s no such thing as overnight success but confident people can see half the victory already while the rest depends on other things like skills, expertise and willingness to grow.
